The ReGLOVE: 100% Recycled Plastic Examination Glove Built for Vets and Farmers

As featured in Farmers Weekly | February 2026

A Vet-Developed Solution to a Long-Standing Problem

Every calving season, every pregnancy exam, every artificial insemination procedure — they all have one thing in common: a shoulder-length examination glove that ends up in the bin.

For years, vets and farmers across New Zealand have had no real alternative to virgin plastic disposable gloves. Biodegradable options fell short on strength and stability. Washing programmes weren't practical in the field. And so, box after box of single-use plastic kept heading to landfill.

THE ReGLOVE was created to change that.

What Is the ReGLOVE?

THE ReGLOVE is a 100% recycled plastic shoulder-length examination glove — the same style used every day in large animal veterinary work and on-farm tasks like calving assistance and DIY artificial insemination (AI).

Developed by practising large animal veterinarian Jennifer Stone, THE ReGLOVE is the first examination glove of its kind to deliver a genuinely sustainable alternative without compromising on performance.

"I really believed that as an industry, we must find ways to do better." — Jennifer Stone, founder of THE ReGLOVE

Performance Tested in Real Field Conditions

ReGLOVE isn't a lab product — it was designed and tested where it actually gets used.

Field testing covered the three things that matter most for examination gloves:

  • Durability — extended use without failure

  • Sensitivity — reliable palpation of internal structures

  • Consistency — performing comparably to traditional virgin plastic gloves

Jennifer's standard for testing? Herself — a working large animal vet who uses examination gloves daily.

"Testing in the field was essential — including by the toughest critic: me."

Why This Matters for Vets and Farmers

The veterinary profession routinely advises farmers on sustainable practices — from efficient use of resources to environmental management. But until now, vets' own daily routines were part of the plastic waste problem.

Calvings, reproductive exams, AI procedures — each one typically involves a glove destined for landfill. With no strong-performing alternative available, the industry had been stuck.

THE ReGLOVE closes that gap. It allows vets and farmers to maintain best-practice hygiene and performance standards while meaningfully reducing the plastic waste generated on-farm and in the clinic.

Industry Backing

The response from the veterinary and agricultural has been outstanding. The New Zealand Veterinary Association (NZVA) has formally supported THE ReGLOVE and featured it in their publications and on their website — recognition that underscores both the need this product addresses and the confidence the profession has in its performance.

Feedback from vet clinics, pharmaceutical suppliers, and breeding companies has been equally positive.
